Gov. O'Malley Salutes Troops Gov. O'Malley Chats with Troops

UMUC students serving in the military overseas were saluted on Veterans Day by Maryland’s top executive, Gov. Martin O'Malley. From the statehouse in Annapolis, O'Malley and UMUC President Javier Miyares connected via Google Hangout with UMUC students at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan.

The governor praised the military students, who are taking a speech and writing course at UMUC, for pursuing higher education while serving our nation.

Afterward, @GovernorOMalley tweeted, "Great morning video chatting with troops. We are forever grateful for their service to our country."

More than half of UMUC’s students are members of the military, veterans or their families.
