UMUC to Host Receptions and Employment Webinar in Support of our Nation’s Veterans
Receptions to feature networking opportunities, academic advising, tips for veterans seeking employment
| WHAT: | In honor of Veterans Day, University of Maryland University College (UMUC)—which was founded in 1947 in part because of the need to educate returning
soldiers from World War II—will host receptions and a webinar in support and
appreciation of our nation’s veterans. At each reception, attendees will be able to network with fellow veterans and UMUC alumni, chat with academic advisors and staff from the Veterans Certification Office, and get information about how veteran benefits can be used to achieve education goals. Led by federal career counselor and career advisor with UMUC’s Office of
Career Services, Gail Sutton, the webinar will help veterans learn how to
translate military skills into civilian work skills, calculate military versus civilian
pay, and understand veterans’ preference with the federal government. |
