New Art Exhibition Features Works by Latin American Artists
Join the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) community for the opening reception of Vista: Contemporary Works by Latin American Artists
Sunday, September 23, 2012
3–5 p.m.
Inn and Conference Center,
Lower Level
This exhibition focuses on new expressions by Latin American artists and will include works in a variety of media including oil and acrylic, photography, video, and collage, by artists from Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina and elsewhere.
Vista is Spanish for “view.” The name of the exhibition draws upon the inspirations of the Latin American artists whose works are featured. These artists pull from the creative process of mapmaking and touch upon issues of identity, immigration, and memory at the same time they explore topography, urbanity, and space. They have also created works that incorporate global trends such as minimalism, conceptual art, and installation work.
This exhibition is on view beginning Sunday, September 16, 2012, through Sunday, November 25, 2012. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.–9 p.m. daily. RSVP for the opening reception or request additional information by calling 301-985-7937 or visiting the Arts Web site.
