Andrea Y. Hart

Andrea Hart serves as the Vice President and Chief of Staff within the Office of the President at UMUC.  She came to the university in 2000 as the Associate Director of Alumni Relations and served as the Special Assistant to the Provost and Chief Academic Officer before joining the Office of the President.

Before coming to UMUC, Ms. Hart was the Assistant Vice President of Administration at Houston Associates, Inc., an Information Technology Federal contractor whose primary client was the Department of Defense. In this role, she was responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of the administrative operations to include human resources, information technology, facilities, contracts and procurement, security, and proposal and document resources management. She also developed and maintained the corporate policies and procedures and chaired the policy review and strategic planning boards.

Ms. Hart's experience in planning and policy development leads her to volunteer her time in the K-12 educational environment where she is involved with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). She served on several committees associated with student learning outcomes as well as the redesign, restructuring and implementation of the grading process and policy for the MCPS Board of Education.

Ms. Hart majored in Biology and Public Health Administration at Virginia Tech and is a graduate of UMUC's Leadership and Management Program.
