James Selbe
Jim Selbe serves as senior vice president for Partnerships, Marketing, and Enrollment Management. In this role, he provides leadership for the integrated execution and strategic management of the university’s student recruitment, marketing, and enrollment functions; financial aid and student advising; military, university, and corporate partnerships; and career services.
Prior to his appointment as senior vice president, Mr. Selbe served as vice president for Military Operations and brought a wide breath of experience as a nationally recognized thought leader in the education of military service members, veterans, and their families. Mr. Selbe—a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps—came to UMUC from the American Council on Education (ACE), where he served as director Military Programs; director Program Evaluations, and assistant vice president, Lifelong Learning. Previous to joining ACE, he served as regional director of Military Programs for Old Dominion University and as an adjunct instructor at Central Texas College.
Mr. Selbe is a frequent speaker on topics that include the military students and student veterans, academic credit for prior learning, and innovative approaches to supporting military service members and veterans. He holds a MEd in counseling and personnel services from the University of Maryland, College Park and received his BS in management from National Louis University.
