An Important Message from UMUC President Javier Miyares
I am pleased to announce that the nomination period for the 2014 Presidential Awards opens Monday, October 20, and runs through 5 p.m. eastern time Friday, November 7, 2014. Please consider nominating a deserving colleague.
Each year, up to six faculty and staff members are granted Presidential Awards in recognition of extraordinary accomplishments and performance. The awards go to individuals who have made distinctive contributions to UMUC throughout their careers, through regular and active involvement in programs, activities, and projects that demonstrate a commitment to the university as a whole.
To be eligible, an employee must have three or more years of continuous service with UMUC and must be designated as full-time regular exempt or nonexempt, overseas regular, overseas contingent III, or collegiate faculty. Winners will receive a special gift and monetary award of $5,000. (Nominees may also be considered for the annual University System of Maryland Board of Regents Staff Award.)
To submit a nomination or to view full nomination criteria and guidelines, visit the 2014 Presidential Awards Engage page.
A committee of staff members and collegiate faculty representatives from UMUC’s stateside and overseas divisions will review the nominations and forward recommendations to me. The awards will be presented at the annual Service and Achievement Awards Ceremony on December 8, 2014.
I look forward to receiving this year’s nominations.
