UMUC Dorsey Station Career Fair

Are you looking for ways to expand your career search? Then, register today for the Career Fair at Dorsey Station, where you can find the company that is the right fit for your career goals and professional development needs.  

During this event, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with regional employers and organizations such as Verizon Wireless, Raytheon Solipsys, Honeywell Technology Solutions, The Veteran's Support Organization, and many others.  

Bring plenty of resumes to apply onsite for a variety of positions including systems and software engineers, management, research, technical support and sales. Individuals with security clearance are especially encouraged to attend. 

This is a free event and free parking is available at Dorsey Station and the neighboring MARC Train Station.

Space at the career fair is limited, so register by April 26 to guarantee your space: Send an e-mail to dorsey@umuc.edu with your name and preferred contact information.

You’re invited to test-drive UMUC’s week long learning experience. If you’re curious about online learning but want to know more before investing in college, you’re not alone. That’s why we’ve created UMUC 411, a classroom experience that provides you with the 411 on UMUC.

At the end of the Test Drive, you’ll have all the information you need to decide if UMUC is a match for your education goals. Our Test Drive is free, and there’s no obligation to apply.  

Once a month, a customized Military Test Drive is offered for servicemembers interested in UMUC. Members of the military are invited to sign up for either experience.

Learn about Federal Employment from a Federal Employee

UMUC’s Office of Career Services is hosting a Webinar to help you learn how to apply to and work in the federal government, presented by Johari Rashad, training director for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Dr. Rashad has served in the federal government for over 35 years and her experience includes working in human resources and serving as a hiring manager for various agencies. She is very knowledgeable about the federal hiring process and will be speaking on her experiences. 

A Q&A session will follow during which you can get answers to your questions about federal employment.

This event is being co-hosted by the Call to Serve Speakers' Bureau Program.

About the Presenter
Johari M. Rashad, PhD, is the training director at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Previously, she was chief of the Career Development & Training Branch at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

In her 35+ years of federal employment, she has worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where she served as the agency's telework coordinator from 2006-2010; U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM); the Bureau of Land Management (Interior); the U.S. Coast Guard; and the U.S. Customs Service. She has also worked for three of the agencies now in the Department of Homeland Security.

Dr. Rashad is a member of OPM's Telework Advisory Group and the Telework Exchange's Visionary Committee. During her career, she has received numerous awards for her work in human resources, training, and career management.

The Call to Serve Speakers’ Bureau program is co-sponsored by the Partnership for Public Service, a nonprofit organization.
