Failure to pay your University of Maryland University College bill will result in collection action from the State Central Collection Unit. E-mail UMUC collections or call 888-360-UMUC if you are unable to make payment arrangements.
A dunning notification is a letter we send to you, stating that you are overdue in paying your UMUC account and that we will transfer your account to collections if you do not pay your balance.
In accordance with the State of Maryland, UMUC is required to forward all delinquent accounts to the State Central Collection Unit. An account is generally considered delinquent at 90 days past due. Once a balance has been transferred to SCCU, a collections fee of 17 percent is added to the total amount transferred.
Prior to sending your account to SCCU, UMUC will send three dunning notifications to you within each term. You will receive the first dunning notification after the start of the Session 2 classes. For example, if you enroll for a fall term course in May and fail to make payment arrangements and/or are excluded from disenrollment because of special circumstances (financial aid, military, etc.), you will receive the first dunning notification in November.
UMUC will send all dunning notifications electronically to the preferred e-mail address that you have on file with UMUC. If you receive a third dunning notification, you must make payment to UMUC within 15 days of the date of the letter to avoid transfer to collections.
What to Do if You Receive a Dunning Notification
Please take immediate action and contact our office after you receive your first dunning notification. Call or e-mail us if you are unable to make payment arrangements. We may be able to work out a payment option with you that would prevent your account from being sent to SCCU. The Collections Department may be reached by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Payments are accepted online 24 hours a day, seven days a week via all major credit cards and e-check. To make a payment, log into your Student Account Center and choose Make a Payment. E-mail UMUC collections for the status of your delinquent account.

Resolving Your Account with SCCU & Restoring Your UMUC Services
All balances with SCCU must be paid through SCCU. Once your account has been transferred, any requests for UMUC services (registration, transcripts, diplomas, commencement reviews, transcript evaluations, etc.) will be denied until all your debts are paid in full.
UMUC is only notified monthly of paid debts through SCCU. Therefore, in order to restore your services with UMUC, you must provide us with a copy of your SCCU receipt indicating that your account has been paid in full.
