UMUC offers more than 50 different scholarships to help make higher education more affordable for our students, including several opportunities exclusively available to UMUC Cybersecurity students.

Applying for UMUC Scholarships

All students who apply for federal financial aid are automatically screened for UMUC scholarship eligibility and notified if if they meet UMUC scholarship criteria. UMUC scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first served basis, so it’s important to submit your financial aid application as soon as possible.

Featured Cyber Security Scholarship

The Cybersecurity Postdoctoral Fellowship

Each year, UMUC's Center for Security Studies seeks highly qualified and creative candidates for its Cybersecurity Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. The fellowship provides a monetary award to cover tuition, fees and books for two graduate courses in cyber security, along with a stipend.

Qualified candidates should have an interest in research or teaching in the cyber security, digital forensics and information assurance fields.

Within one year of beginning the program, fellows will be required to complete:

  • Two 6-credit cyber security courses (with a grade of "B" or better)
  • Five-week online faculty training
  • Presentation of two conference papers at notable conferences or publication of one scholarly article related to cyber security in a refereed journal

Upon successful completion of the one-year postdoctoral program, fellows will be considered for adjunct faculty positions in UMUC's master's programs in cyber security and information assurance. Learn more and apply for the Cybersecurity Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Gala Raises More than $600,000 for Student Scholarships

UMUC's 2013 Cybersecurity Scholarship Gala attracted a broad range of industry leaders, including William Cohen, former secretary of Defense, who gave the keynote speech, and members of the Maryland Commission on Cybersecurity Innovation and Excellence.

UMUC has 11 scholarship funds dedicated to cybersecurity education. Since fall 2011, nearly 300 cybersecurity students have received more than half a million dollars in scholarship support.
