Reporting of Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect

University of Maryland University College is committed to protecting the safety and welfare of children who come into contact with the institution community. Under Maryland law, there are mandatory reporting requirements for individuals who suspect child abuse or neglect. USM policy (USM Board of Regents VI-1.50 – Policy on the Reporting of Suspected Child Abuse & Neglect) provides guidance regarding the application of the Maryland law to USM institutions. UMUC's Procedures for Reporting Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect outline the reporting procedures that faculty, staff, students and others must follow.
