Safari: How do I clear cache and temporary Internet files? (Mac)

Follow the steps below to clear your cache and cookies from the Safari browser on a Mac. Note: If your Mac and your other devices have Safari turned on in iCloud preferences, your browsing history is removed from all of them.

  1. Click on Safari and then on Preferences

  2. Select the Privacy tab and then select the Manage Website Data button.

  3. A popup will appear. Select Remove All.
  4. A dialog box will appear asking if you're sure you want to remove all data stored. Select Remove Now.
  5. Click on Safari and then on Preferences

  6. In the Preferences window, click the Advanced tab and make sure the checkbox next to Show Develop menu in menu bar is selected.

  7. Select Develop in the menu bar at the top of the screen and select Empty Caches

  8. Your cache and temporary files have been cleared.
