Password: How do I activate my password with the Authorization Code?

New Students and Faculty:
In order to access MyUMUC and other University of Maryland University College systems, you are required to activate your account in the University's password management system. You should have received your username and an authorization code at the same email address but in separate messages, typically within a few hours of each other. If you did not receive your authorization code, please check your spam messages.  

Follow the steps below to create a password and establish challenge questions for secure access to your MyUMUC account.
Note: If you did not receive your authorization code, you can try to
create your password using your username, Empl ID/Student ID, or your primary e-mail address on file


Step 1: Go to

Step 2: Enter your Username and click Submit.

Step 3: Select Answer my secret questions or enter my authorization code and click Next.

Step 4: Enter your authorization code and click Submit.
The authorization code was sent to you in an e-mail with the subject Authorization Code.

Step 5: You will see a warning pop-up message that reads: Please complete your secret questions before exiting. You will need to complete this process before you can reset your password.

Click Close to continue to the next screen.

Step 6: Under Manage your secret questions select five secret questions and type your answers.

Answer Requirements:

  • Answers need to be different for each question.
  • Answers are not case sensitive.
  • Answers do not have a character limit and any character can be used.

Step 7: Click Submit.

Step 8: Select Reset my password and click Next.

Step 9: Enter a New Password and re-type the password.

Click Submit .


Step 10: Once you are prompted with the You have successfully reset your password, click Exit.
