Workplace Learning Program: Eligibility and Application Process

Topic: Applying to the Workplace Learning Program

(1) Eligibility

You are eligible for the Workplace Learning program once the following criteria has been met:

  • You are an undergraduate, degree-seeking student at UMUC
  • You have completed 30 credits, 6 of which must have been completed at UMUC
  • You have completed 9 credits of coursework in the discipline of the co-op position. For example, if you plan to earn WKPL credit in Human Resources, you should have at least 9 credits in business management, preferably in human resources-related courses
  • You must have a grade point average of 2.5 or better at UMUC (cumulative)
  • You have checked with an academic advisor and have a completed official evaluation on file

(2) Apply To The Program

  • Once you have met the eligibility requirements for the Workplace Learning Program and secured a work opportunity, you can apply by following the following procedure:
  • Log-in to MyUMUC
  • Click Student Center
  • Click the My Academics link in the Academics box under your Student Center
  • Click Apply Cooperative Edu Program (Co-op) - toward the bottom of the page, under the boxes
  • Complete the application
