VA Benefits: When will my GI Benefits be applied to my account and will my tuition be covered 100 percent?

Generally, the VA releases funds 14 days prior to the start of the class. In most cases, funds will post to your account two to four weeks after a class begins.

Students utilizing the Post 9/11 GI Bill have a hold placed on their account to prevent disenrollment (being dropped from class for non-payment) after submitting a Request for Certification for the term. If you do not submit a Request for Certification for the term, you may be disenrolled.

To submit a Request for Certification via MyUMUC:

  1. Log in to MyUMUC
  2. Go to Veteran Certification
  3. Select the semester you wish to certify
  4. Click Complete Request Form
  5. Complete and click Submit Request

The percentage of your tuition covered by the US Department of Veterans Affairs is based on your percentage of eligibility for Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits. You can find this information on your Certificate of Eligibility or by signing into your account at www.vets.gov.
