The cyber security programs at University of Maryland University College have been ranked No. 4 in Military Times's second annual 10 Best Cybersecurity Programs survey. This is the second year in a row the programs have earned a top 5 ranking by Military Times and comes on the heels of UMUC's No. 1 ranking in the recent Military Times Best: Colleges 2018 survey of online and nontraditional schools.
Schools that participated in the Military Times Best: Colleges 2018 survey were considered, and their rankings accounted for half of their performance on the cybersecurity list. Among the other metrics used to evaluate programs were ABET accreditation, designation by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security as Centers of Academic Excellence, and the number of computer science and/or cyber security degrees awarded per 1,000 students. Programs were evaluated based on information provided to Military Times by the schools taking part, as well as public information specific to computer science and cybersecurity and federal data from the Education, Veterans Affairs, and Defense departments.
UMUC has been proudly educating military servicemembers since 1947.
