Classes and Services

University of Maryland University College (UMUC) offers classes and student services on Aberdeen Proving Ground in Harford County, Maryland. The site is located on a military installation and serves the local military, as well as civilian students. Please call this location for information about base access. In some instances, a FERPA waiver form may be required.

UMUC is pleased to offer hybrid courses in the following curriculum areas:


Directions and Parking

Military and government ID card holders can take I-95 to Exit 85 (Route 22 East). Route 22 leads to the post gate. UMUC's Harford County Information Office is located at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Building 4305, Room 210.

From Route 40, take 715 East to the post gate and visitors center. Follow Maryland Boulevard to Susquehanna Avenue, and turn right. The UMUC APG Office is located in Building 4305, the Janet Barr Soldier Support Center. Enter through the front doors, and go to the second floor, Room 210.

Computer Labs

UMUC military students have access to computer labs located on Aberdeen Proving Ground. Call 410-272-8269 or 301-621-9882 for information on the hours and availability of computing facilities.

Placement Testing

Members of the military and the civilian community with base access may take placement tests at this location for writing and math courses. Please call to schedule an appointment.

Security and Access

As of January 2015, visitors must show a valid U.S. driver's license and vehicle registration, in addition to undergo a background check at the Visitor's Center to gain access to the base. For students who do not have an identification card that allows access to Aberdeen Proving Ground and are registered to take classes on post, please visit the Visitor's Center one week prior to the start of the class to ensure base access can be granted.
